burnt crank journal...notice how the crank is black on the left, and gold on the right:


oil jet issue perhaps?

Dam...Looks very familiar!!! Looks what happened to my car.....

sounds like it could of been something to do with the not enough oil going to #2 piston...

They all have oil squirters.

The was an update on the bolts that hold them in. What year is his car? If it's an 00-02, it's got the old style bolts (I can tell by his engine number in your 6th pic)

well also .. from 00 to half of 03 they all had oil squirters but 04 and on they add oil spirters that spriad oil at the top of the piston.. mine did not have that and i am sure it was part of the problem... and looks to me that your oil squirter stop working and made the piston not have any oil.. hence the bent rod...

c_me_go, where do you come up with this crap? The oil jets have always stayed the same throught every year of production. The oil jet bolts were changed midway in 2002 year model and have stayed the same since. Don't post miss-information on the forum.
