Default Too Early to Auto-X?

I am well past my break-in period, but at ~3500kms, I am still on the original oil.

This may not make any difference, but the auto-x I attend gets me about 4 short runs (70-80s) a night, and I spend a lot of time near redline in 1st gear. The runs aren't even long enough to affect my tire pressures (maybe I'm not driving hard enough...)

I have been keeping a faithful eye on my oil consumption and am currently down to 2 X marks on the stick, after adding 1.5L of oil since new. Will top up before the next event, if not sooner.

The car is completely stock.

Waiting for VTEC until 600mi is one thing, but -- is it too soon for me to auto-x the car? Thats a lot more abuse.

(sorry if this has been covered before)

Here's the bonus question -- I ran 38/38 (f/r) pressures my first time out. I felt that understeer and oversteer occurred equally (I'm no expert, and am new to auto-x, I may just not be reading my car right in those situations or giving it bad input). I have heard some recommendations like 40/36, 38/34 -- but generally, fronts slightly harder than the rears, yes?

I did my first auto-x at about 1800 miles. I wouldn't worry too much about being too early. I'm now at 15k miles with no problems.

I ran 36 in the front and 33 rear. I still slid all over the place.

I did a 600mile celebration break-in drag race at the Sac Raceway followed up by the next weekend doing some SCCA AutoX at the Albany fields in the bay.

Its a race car and its under warranty too!!

Are you guys talking stock tires? I used 38/38 on Sunday, and I was pretty happy with it.

Thanks guys...I feel a bit better now (although the event finished before I was able to check your replies)

I did much better, this my second time out, despite one MAJOR scare:

I hope you are right, Takashi. I just experienced for the first time how easy it is to burn the clutch in my car. I tried a higher-RPM launch tonight at an autocross event and obviously didn't snap the clutch out fast enough (I would have had to have side-stepped it to be any faster) and it burnt for a good second or so. When I backed off and it finally fully engaged, my shift into second burnt also!

Put me on the list of cars Auto-X'd starting at 1,000 miles. I drove all over hill-and-dale to get the mileage in time for the next event.

I also agree with a bit more pressure in front, using the stock S02's (41/38 on a really grippy surface). I find I'm mostly neutral-to-understeer with a few surprise oversteer points when the stock suspension lets the weight flop over near the middle-end of a tight turn. Not a surprise on the 2nd and 3rd runs though (I'm ready with that can-of-countersteer).
