Top straps
I have an '01 which originally had a plastic window. I am attempting to install the EZ-ON top with glass window. I am stuck on the straps. The included instructions are poor, and I'm getting information overload searching on the topic.
I only have two straps, between the 1st bow and the 2nd bow. There is nothing between the 2nd and 3rd bow, and the EZ-ON instructions want me to install their straps on the 3rd bow to the the rain rail. There are no springs on the sides like later models holding the 3rd bow up. It just flops around. EZ-ON says to set it at 24" and then put their strap on, but it just falls so that doesn't make much sense.
Unlike my OEM top, the EZ-ON has a vinyl piece that appears to loop bow 2 and 3 together. Is this what lifts bow 3?
Am I missing a set of straps? Such as between the 2nd and 3rd bow?
Thanks for any replies, especially quick ones!

EDIT: Just spoke with EZ-ON, and they say I don't need straps between the last bow and the penultimate bow as the headliner pulls the last bow up. Looks strange, but I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Only 7 hours spent on this so far. lol
There should be a nylon strap (not elastic) that will hold the last bow and is connected to the 2nd stud on the rain rail, just like Billman said. You seem to be missing these pieces.
If all the straps that you got were elastic, those go on the 2nd and 3rd bow (in place of the springs that aren't present on the 00-01 frame), and maybe another set of replacement straps for the 1st and 2nd bow (which is the same as a modifry top fix kit).

With out the 2nd set of straps, the last bar won't slide in next to the 2nd bar and your top will not fold properly, guaranteed. I recently got someone who had his top converted from plastic to glass (by a shop!) and it was done all wrong. I would have charged him less and I would have done it properly.
- Make sure the rear button snaps behind the roll hoops (for the tonneau cover) are removed. These snaps will catch on the glass and top won't sit right when it goes down.
- The last bar should have straps on them and have to be installed on the 2nd stud on the rain rail. If they aren't installed, the last bar will sit next to the 2nd bar and the glass top will sag and hit the roll hoops when you put the top up. The last bar should sit right around the stitched seam above the glass window.
- The 2nd and last bar should have strap installed between them in place of the springs that are on 02-up. Without this, the top won't sit right when it goes down.
- The first and 2nd bow should already have the elastic straps from factory. If they have failed or frayed, The bar won't fold back when the top goes down and won't sit right. This is the main cause of rips aside from the burrs on the frame itself.

Thanks a ton for the tips. I removed the two inner tonneau cover snaps. I've given it a week, but the top is still quite tight, and the last bow is not quite going all the way back to the back seam you're talking about (when the top is up). I'll give it some more time, and then if that doesn't work I may have to shorten that back strap that pulls the last bow into position.

I bought a 2000 Honda S2000 with an aftermarket glass top and the rear window is loose and occasionally hit the hoops. Mine does not have straps that go from bar 2 to the rear most bar 3. There is a headliner in the rear that will cover both the most rearward bar and the 2nd bar while velcroing and attaching to the 2nd bar. This allows the most rearward bar from falling back. I do have the nylon straps from the most rearward bar to the rainguard. How can I fix this? It seems like the soft top where it attaches around the rear of the car near the trunk needs to tightened somehow because when I push on those areas the window moves away from the loops.
Here is the pic showing the headliner and the nylon strap going to the rain guard. Sorry for bad cell phone pic.
