Here's what you do;
Get a non-u haul truck that'll keep your gear/stuff/etc and rent a car tow system that gets all 4 wheels off the ground. Tow your S like this - http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/attachment...ase-tesla-7.jpg
I've driven a good 1000 miles towing a car like the S with a truck. No problems.
You don't want a uhaul, they are the most dangerous in the nation.

Uhaul - $1850 + 250 for the trailer
Budget - $1450 + 215 for the trailer
Penske - $1400 + $230 for the Trailer
Gas for the truck will be like $700-$800.... This is when I gave up on this idea...
I hired a moving company for much less (the owner is a friend)
And I am going to drive the S across the country which is something I wanted to do anyway.
By the way I will be happy to get some recommendations for the trip!

And was this weaker engine encased in a ladder truck frame? I know towing has nothing to with HP. I've done plenty of towing in my time. A Subie would not have the tranny, diff, or frame to be to tow anything close to that weight.
you don't have to tow. just use one of these.

Thanks for all the answers,
U haul will not rent a trailer to be towed by a car that has no hard top...

Tow the s2000 WITH your things, not vice versa. You can drop the truck/trailer off at another location as well.
IMHO, the best solution for your problem.
Very aware of that thread. I read it many years ago. I'm sure you are aware there is a difference between towing a boat a short distance at very slow speeds vs a much heavier load at highway speeds.

I tow a tire trailer for autocross. Fully loaded, the trailer is about 500#. I've put somewhere between 5k and 10k towing miles on the S with zero problems. I feel confident with my set up because I used to pull it with a bumper mounted hitch on a 75hp Fiat X1/9. If the Fiat can handle it, the S certainly can!

Don't think the OP is worried about the warranty! His car is 7 years old.

It probably doesn't do any harm to tow a light load, just puts extra wear and tear on your clutch, brakes and diff. Over time, those parts will wear out faster, which is probably why Honda put that disclaimer in the manual.
