I am currious about the types of fluids used in the tranny and diff. and I am hoping you fluid experts can help me understand.

Both seem to call for a GL-5 lubricant, so shouldn't you be able to use the same thing...such as Mobil1 Synthetic 75w90...in both?

our resident expert is Road Rage, but I believe the Mobil 1 you're referring it is a gear oil that should be only used as diff fluid. I'd venture to say that most S2000 owners use Honda MTF or the "GM" fluid noted previously in this thread.

I just purchased GM Synchromesh Transmission Fluid 1#12345349 that the label states is designed specifially for use in GM manual transmissions...yada yada...It is an amber colored, light bodied base product that is a partially synthetic manual transmission fluid.

Is this the right stuff for the S2K?

As was alluded too before you should not put a GL-5 fluid in the s2k tranny. The GL-5 is not yellow metal safe and can damage the brass synchros of the MY00-03 tranny(and I wouldn't trust it in a MY04+ tranny either)
