Tranny Flush Again!
Well when i first bought my are i was the 3rd owner on it and fully stock. Never modded and came with a factory warranty with all service records but noticed that the tranny was never flushed before.
I went down to my local pepboys to pick up some new tranny fluid when i came across Royal purple synthetic synchromesh stuff they make.... Thought to myself hhhmmmm it only takes 2 of these cans so $20 is a small price to pay to see if this stuff really works...... boy was i in for a treat!
Got home happy with new oil in the trunk. Jacked up the car placed it on 4 jack stands and off came the oil drain plug on the Engine, Tranny & Diff..... Engine - 10w30 Fully Synthetic by Mobile, Tranny - Royal Purple, Diff - Royal Purple. I have always used Mobile on my S with a OEM filter. This is my first time doing the tranny so i was expecting smoother shifts after drain and fill. As for the diff you really cant feel any difference. Anyways I flushed all the fluids and re-filled with new. Dropped the car and took it out for a spin and the tranny felt the same.... i thought maybe it needs to get up to temp so i drove it around for about 30 mins and still no change.....
Finally yesterday i drained and filled with Honda MTF and wow!!! Ill never do that again!
So after all this i got one thing to say!!!!

Honda's oil does it's job thats for sure.
I had the syncromesh in my tranny and it was great for a few weeks and then cr@pped out. The same problem i've had with honda MTF. I'm really not sure what to try next

Royal Purple sucks
I'm running Amsoil GL-4 75w-90 gear lube....shifts perfectly....Motul Gear 300 is also an option but the GL-5 rated fluids may represent a long term corrosion issue
Honda MTF is fine as long as you change it about every 5k miles

Back on my 96 H22 prelude I had shifting issues.. that was in 2005 so I decided to try 10w30 Synthetic Mobil1 Oil. Because of low temperatures shifting was horrid on a car with 150k miles on it.
It worked great, in low temps synthetic really did it's job.
Now with S2K I just went with Honda MTF and it works great. It is also synthetic now as well.

Royal Purple is garbage - period.
I use Amsoil MTF myself, but considering trying Amsoil MTG (75W90 GL-4) due to the fact my transmission seems to break down oil fairly quickly, and ZX10 seems to be having good luck with it.
I can't go 1000 miles with Honda MTL during the summer without it getting notchy. I tend to get a solid 3500-5000 miles out of the Amsoil MTF, but would like to see how Amsoil MTG works.
I would get rid of the Royal Purple in your diff - and quickly at that. I personally had a very bad experience with RP gear oil in another vehicle that required a full diff rebuild.

The series of tests were commissioned and paid for by Amsoil, but conducted by a certified independent lab. It will make you think twice about using RP again.

My next flush will be amsoil just to try it out but this Honda MTF is great.... that RP stuff broke down way to quick!
Im gonna pick up some Redline for the diff real soon! Im just glad that the diff and tranny don't take much so you can play around with it and see what flavor you like..... hahahaha

Redline in the Diff isn't bad, but the overall best gear oil for street up to moderate tracking is Amsoil SG. I use the 75W110 (I have a set of original Richmond 4.57 gears in the rear), but the 75W90 works very well in stock diffs.
Page 19 of that white paper analysis shows that Amsoil performed the best overall. There were other gear oils that performed slightly better on certain individual tests - but failed in other areas. Lucas, Royal Purple and one of the Mopar gear oils failed more tests than they passed. RP gear oil shears down extremely quickly - so get it out of your diff very soon. Additionally, you'll need to do a quick change to get the residual crap out of your diff (change it to your oil of choice, then change it in a couple of thousand miles again) - the residue left behind by the RP.
