Amsoil Severe Gear is a GL5 - designed for the diff in our car.
Amsoil MTG is a GL4 - which is brass (yellow metal) friendly - for our transmissions.
AP2 synchros are carbon coated, but there's still brass involved in the synchros - so a GL4 gear oil is still indicated.
At any rate, Amsoil MTF would be the first aftermarket transmission fluid I'd recommend. However, there are some transmissions out there that seem to need a thicker fluid - and MTG would be indicated there. There are folks on this site that swear by Redline MT-90 in their transmissions.
Emil St-Hilaire - isn't 75W140 a little on the thick side? The 75W110 works like a champ for me - and I'm running Richmond 4.57 (1st gen) gears.

For some reason i was thinking you were talking about putting MTG in your diff and i got confused.....

75W140 in the diff.......

is misplaced.
75w140 is unncessary for a relatively low power, light weight car like this, and will cost you some gas mileage...perhaps if you're drag racing the car or subjecting it to alot of high rpm clutch dumps...I'm running Amsoil 75w90, no issues

How do you guys feel about mixing the two Amsoils, 75w90 and 75w140.
You could get away with running 75W140 in the diff in the dead heat of the summer - but expect higher diff temps and a decrease in mileage. 75W140 is really too thick for stock gears - and on the outside of the range I'd consider for any of the Richmond gears, but I don't think it would hurt anything in hot weather (I know some of the literature specs 75W140 for some of the Richmond products). I would not run 75W140 in the winter though. 75W90 works great in colder weather - even with Richmond gears.
Amsoil SG 75W110 falls within those two ranges, which is an appropriate viscosity for the diff.
royal purple isnt for hondas period....royal purple is built for race cars... so puttin it in a manual trans is dumb... honda has their own manual trans fluid for a reason... ne thing other than that.. wont work rite... but as for in the motor... i run royal purple srp racing oil.. 10 w 30.... shits ****ing amazing.... very expensive... 100 dollar oil change with k&n filter... worth every penny
but puttin any thing other than honda mtf in ur trans is dumb... its a stock trans... for stock fluid... royal purple trans fluid is for fully built trans's where a syn oil is needed to keep up wtih everything happening inside..
