Okay, I am getting pissed off at the tranny....so I need some help.

I just got done changing the clutch. I was trying to put the tranny back in and I have two problems.

First, I did not take off the gear shift when taking the tranny out. Pulled the knob, but not the shaft. How does it come off? Is it screwed on?

Second, I could not get the tranny to go all the way on. It had about a 1/4"-1/2" gap between the engine and tranny. I wiggled, kicked, etc. to try to get it to go on further. I did not want to force it, so I stopped for the night.

I do not have the clutch alignment tool, but everything looks straight straight.

Any suggestions?
