Default Tranny Question...

well i'm in need of some transmission work on my 05 s2k... 1st gear to 2nd gear is extremely notchy.. 2nd gear pop's out... typical honda transmission problems. since my car is u.s vin and i live in canada i cant get proper warrenty. i do how ever have an 06 with warrenty coverage and i was thinking of just using that vin to order the parts. part numbers are different between the years...

anyone out there know a site with specs between the years so i could see if its going to be worth while to pull the tranny with 06 shafts for it or if i'm gunna need to buy with 05 parts..

thanks for any help!!!

Have you tried changing the trans fluid? How many miles on the car and do you know what type of transmission fluid is in there now?

Just like what Brendo said....change the transmission fluid (get the right one) before you commit fraud.

I doubt that Honda will send you a bunch of free parts...

You can try changing the tranny oil, but if it has the popping out of gear problem, it's very unlikely to help or help for long. Kinda a bad situation.

You can look here to see if the part numbers are the same:

http://www.slhondaparts.com/browse.asp?Model=S2000

I didn't check, but I'm pretty sure that all the AP2s have the same tranny.

lotus/blendo - right now i'm using a 75/25 mix of royal purple to honda fluid... it seems to be the best that i've found... tryed a bunch of different ways with the gm syncro and honda fluid but to no luck still felt the same as if i had 100% honda fluid and theres about 82kms or 50miles

red - dont worry on how i'm getting my parts... you wish you could do things the way i can...

neg - things are alittle different on our side... we can only order full shafts(gears ad syncros already on the shaft).

gts - i'd have to be living in the states to get warrenty down there... just the way honda does it, or else i would have taken it down by now!

Try one more time - use a solid no mix stuff. Use redline and see what happens. Gamble on $50. for redline MT-90. I had the same problem and cured my hard shifting...I don't know about 2nd gear popping, but give it a shot. Just like going to Indian casino, you have a limit of $50. (cheaper route).
