Default Tranny Trouble?

I have noticed lately that when I am coming to a stop the gear lever is hard to pull out of gear of even stuck, it doesn't take much force to get it out of gear but I don't like the clunking sound that goes along with it. Also every now and then it will grind second on hard accel for no reason, also when downshifting to 3rd to pass on the fwy it use to grind when I shift too fast.

The car has 90k on it, and has probably had a rough life before I took ownership. I would expect some grinding but its so intermittent. Also the sticky gearing is very annoying and sort of dangerous.

I am not getting any slippage from the clutch, I also don't appear to have fluid leaks.

Could it be Tranny Fluid, clutch or something dying a horrible death inside the trans. It doesn't really make any odd sounds that would cause me concern, but I don't want to get stuck in gear in stop/go traffic or anywhere else...

Help!

PS: Tranny fluid... haha... Tranny!

Changed tranny or clutch fluid recently? I'd start there.

I havent. I will have to take it to the dealer. they already quoted me $250 to change the trans and dif juice... Should I have them just change the Clutch fluid as well? I have a garage but its full of my wifes crap so I can't do it myself.

Move your wife's stuff out for a day, or a few hours. You can do all the fluid changes for under $70.00.

Alright,

Differential Drain and Refill:
ApI - GL-5 or GL-6, SAE 90W Hypoid Gear oil .078 QTS. (0.7L)

Honda Manual Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill:
1.60QTS. (1.5L)

Your clutch fluid top off as required. If you need capacities.

Had this problem in my other S, the problem is the Spline. The spline is rusted. You have to clean it, change tranny and clutch fluid, while your at it change the clutch too

hey man, im in orange and have everything needed to do mine in my garage. i would totally be down to help a fellow s2ker out, pm me if interested i do mine like every 12k just for fun because its only about $6 a quart for honda mtf and you only need two. diff fluid is like $10 - $20 a quart, and you only need 1 quart. so total cost is ~ $22 - $32 + about $1 in washers. tools needed are = fluid pump, 3/8" torque wrench, and a 17mm socket. to do the diff, you just need a 24mm socket and a 23mm box wrench. i also forgot to mention the car must be jacked up evenly by some means!

If you have done flushed the brakes, during the MTF and diff oil swap is a good time.

my buddy had a similiar problem, it was hard for him to shift. we took out the shifter cleaned off all the gunk and used some high temp grease generously all over the shifter, shifter bushing and even on the spring under the shifter. big difference, like day and night.
