Default Transmission

It's been quite cold here in Chicago these past two days.

Seems like the sound I'm hearing from the powertrain area is worse in extreme cold

Here is my problem.

When I'm in neutral, and have the clutch disengaged, I hear a churning sound. It goes aways as soon as I press down the clutch. It may have been there all along but just recently noticed it.
Is this normal? Could weather amplify the sound I am hearing? The car shifts fine...

Mine has done this since day one. It's a normal characteristic of the car.

The noise is likely to be coming from the valve train (cam followers). Also, it is not unheard of for a 4 cylinder engine to knock slightly. This car makes a lot of different types of sounds. It is not a luxury car.

If your car drives fine and runs like silk at higher rpm's, I think your good to go
