so for awhile now I have been hearing this very soft odd noise from the transmission. I thought it was normal because I hear a lot of the gear buzz thing.

so suddenly my second gear doesn't work at all but my other gears are fine.

also there is that noise that I used to hear softly is VERY loud all the time now
sounds like something metal is jumping around quickly in a metal case

turn off my engine and turn it back on the noise is gone but when i press down the clutch; the noise goes crazy with clattering.

sooo whats wrong?
I know the previous owner had put in some aftermarket clutch

There are a couple different items that could have failed, but it's not due to the clutch.

It is time for a rebuild or a new tranny.

Since you have an ap1, you might want to look for an ap2 tranny to install. That is unless you plan on going turbo/SC in the near future...then stay with the ap1 tranny.

 

LOL, I have two tranny's with same problem, one lost 4th and the other 6th, both cars were involved in accidents. We need a source for cheap synchronizers that are same quality as OEM.
