Transmission fluid - Motul
Hi,
Is it ok to use Motul Gear 300 75w90 GL-4/5 in ap1 transmission? I read a lot about tranny fluid for ap1 on this forum and i found out that the oil needs to be API GL-4 and this one is.
Has anyone tried this oil in transmission?

That fluid is a bit too viscous for the transmission. Why not Oem fluid, it's relatively cheap.

I just want to know is it safe to use in ap1 tranny because it says both APIGL-4 and 5. people at Motul are recomending it now for ap1 also cause they have changed the formula to suit GL-4 trannys also.

changed all fluids....
Engine: Motul 300v 5w-40
Gearbox: Motul Gear 300 75w90 API GL-4/5
Diff: Motul Gear 300 LS 75w90 GL-5
New vtec solenoid top gasket thanks to Balladesports .
I am amazed with Gear300 in tranny.......smooth shifts (probably needs a few minutes of driving to warm up, but its smooth even when cold), 2nd gear grind dissapeared, 3rd gear notchyness dissapeared, less tranny noise......... il se how it does in summer when its very hot . Honda MTF was terrible in hot summer.

I think the oem fluid is 75W-80.
If Honda MTF is not available, you
may use an SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40
viscosity motor oil with the API
Certification seal that says ‘‘FOR
GASOLINE ENGINES’’ as a
temporary replacement. However,
motor oil does not contain the proper
additives, and continued use can
cause stiffer shifting. Replace as
soon as it is convenient
