Default transmission mount install?

information regarding a factory transmission mount swap seems to be hard to come by; what needs to be done in order to get the old ones out and the new ones in?

thanks

Just go under the car and look at it. It couldnt be simpler.

The job is self explanitory, like changing a wheel.

oh alright, i was expecting it to be more complicated, as with most other things involving the transmission on these cars.

it is rather simple however i was more interested in the torque values for the mount bolts. these are nowhere in the shop manual.

It's a simple unbolt and bolt install. There's only one mount; three bolts from the mount to the chassis and a few from the mount to the tranny. If installing using a jack and jackstands, you'll need a jack to hold up the transmission while the mount is off.

The torque specs to the transmission mounts are 28ft lbs.

I was planning on doing my transmission mounts the same time I do my motor mounts. While I have the engine lifted with a jack to do the motor mounts will I also be able to do the transmission mounts since everything is connected?

I don't see why not.

No, I would recommend doing them independently. The transmission mounts are near the rear of the transmission, and the engine mounts are right at the middle of the engine. They are fairly far apart from each other, and it would be difficult to place a jack in the center of mass to lift the motor and transmission straight up. You will place the jack under the rear of the transmission while replacing the trans mounts, and under the front of the engine while replacing the engine mounts.

I remember finding a thread on how-to replace motor and transmission mounts on this site. It may not have had pictures, but a good detailed description. It exists if you look hard enough for it.
