Default Transmission Mount - Upgrade?

Sorry to start another thread on this but I could not find one that only discussed the merits of upgraded transmission mounts by themselves. I will have two new OEM engine mounts installed soon and was wondering if I should replace the transmission mounts at 97K miles.

Are the upgraded trans mounts way harsher?
Are the OEM ones just as good?
Has anyone left the engine mounts stock but upgraded transmission mounts?
Do they typically even need replacement?

Thanks for your input,
Shind3

i had the innovative transmission mount with their engine mounts. It made the car very loud and almost unbearable. Stock transmission mount is fine

Yeah, see that's the thing. I can't find anyone upgrading the transmission mounts only. I don't know if it's because people have tried and found it wasn't useful or that no one has even tried.

But as you recommend, I do not plan on installing stiffer engine mounts as long as this car remains a DD. It is my assumption that most of the NVH is due to stiffer engine mounts. Not sure how much of an effect stiffer transmission mounts play.

I bought my car with innovative motor mounts and tranny mounts. After driving my buddies stock mounts, I couldn't bear the vibration or noise on my aftermarket mounts. I swapped out the motor mounts for oem but left the tranny mount. It made a big difference but I feel like it's still vibrates around the tranny area causing a more pronounce clutch buzz. My advice would be to ask your installer to check the mount. If it's worn bad, replace with oem. If not, keep as is.

If you want a nice go between, consider the Hardrace/Megan Mounts. I installed the motor and trans mounts however the noise from the trans was annoying so I took it off. Now it is perfect with just the motor mounts.

The biggest difference in noise was from the trans mount. There is a bit more vibration from the motor mounts but not a lot.

I will ask my installer to do that when he does the LH engine mount. For some reason he thought only the RH side generally goes bad so he only ordered one and when he got under the car he noticed both were bad but he only had one so he did the RH side as it had completely separated. The LH mount had only separated around half of the circumference. Though, I can tell he is not happy about having to pay $150 for a damn engine mount. WTF?!

But yes, I think you've convinced him to use OEM trans mounts if needed.

Interesting that trans mounts were more responsible for NVH. You too have convinced me to stay with OEM trans mounts.

Thanks for the replies guys. This is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.
