Default Transmission Overfill= Transmission problems

Ok today I was changing my transmission fluid, well i normally overfill a little bit and never had problems well today I overfilled it using 2 1/4 quarts and as soon as I drained I plugged it up. Well when i came to a complete stop I put it in first and when I start to drive it pops out of gear, never done that before, then when i downshift into first I hear this faint whine. I will drain some of it out tomorrow and see if it fixes it but any ideas? thanks.

basically while filling it up it'll start to come out of the hole. the best thing to do is make sure your on a level ground, jack it up, take off the fill plug, put a bucket underneath to catch the oil and bring the jack down so the car is on all four wheels. all the overfill will come out.

I dunno...I've been slightly overfilling transmissions in my cars for 20yrs now with no problems. Usually by jacking up the fill side of the car only and then pumping new oil as normal. Gets a bit more in there than if level.

Well I guess I fixed the problem, I drained quite a bit out, when I removed the plug it gushed out, I overfilled it by jacking up the fill side as high as I can go so the car was slanted then I kept on pumping and when it was starting to creep out I just went crazy and kept on pumping then plugged it right away. I will keep you all posted if it happens again.

Why would you overfill it, did you think it would be better for the transmission?

what was your logic with the overfill?

a full 2 quarts is overfill already...2 quarts plus some more is way over...
