Today, we went to the Moroso Motorsports Park with OGPackin to do a couple of 1/4 mile runs. He launched the car at 3500rpm and on the first run, the wheels spin in 1st so he lifted off and it did a little on the 2nd too. Then the car went into 3rd harder than usual and at the end of the strip, it didn't shift to 5th.

Now the car has a hard time going into gears sometimes and does not go into 5th at all. When we were on the way back, we sometimes heard some rattling noise coming underneath the car. What might be wrong with the transmission??

BTW, the car is Turbo'ed with 410whp and has stock tranny and diff. Can it be too much power on the tranny because of the launch and something broke inside?

 

So much power to the stock tranny and diff is asking for troubles I think!

 

Can he row through the gearbox with the engine shut off? That's a good place to start a diagnosis.

Sounds to me like you popped something in the clutch. If it'll shift while the engine's not running, won't shift when it is, it's the clutch.

Drag racing destroys cars. I'm not saying don't do it. You might want to trailer the car to the strip though. That's what I do. I trailer to the track because breaking shit's inevitable.
