Driving my 01 s2k yesterday as I entered the freeway I shift to 5th notice it won't go in, tried 6th gear wouldn't go in to. It felt like it was locked, no grind either. So I pulled over tried shifting from 1-6 it feels good, smooth again. So got back on the freeway, tried going to 5th and 6th again and the something happened. Felt like it was locked. I forced it pretty hard to get it in 5th and 6th. And pop my shifter felt like I had no tranny. Instantly pulled over and looked into my shifter. Opened it up and not the 3 screws on the shifter was not screwed on. Took off my shifter and saw the plastic round thinggy for the bottom of the shifter had broken to pieces. Sorry don't know the name of that part. Will I towed it home. Fix the problem n thought it was good to go now. But I notice that as I push down the shifter and pull it to reverse, and let go of the clutch normally it pops bak out and with a grind. Tried shift from gear 1-6 all gears go in. No pop out grind or clunk. So now I'm confuse, any idea or help?
