hey,

my transmission is doing some very odd things. 1st problem is that once a week, it will grind really bad going into 5th and force itself back out of gear. Also it slips in 3rd and you can smell the clutch burning up, but only in 3rd and not all the time. All intermittent problems. I still have warranty, but my dealership said that if they don't see anything wrong or blame it on driver habits im stuck with the bill. My car only has 34k on it. Obviously something is wrong, but i have brought it in before and they said everything was fine. What are some ideas y'all have about my situation. TIA

 

popping out of gear+slipping+clutch burning smell = new clutch time. Can't see why it would be anything else..

 

Slipping clutch = buy new clutch

 

well I figured that if it were the clutch it would slip in all the gears, but it only does it sometimes in 3rd. Also would a worn clutch cause it to pop out of gear? Maybe a bad syncro????? I dunno, this is sorta frustrating. I guess on my next day off, i'll drop the tranny and look at the clutch.
