Default Transmission (shifting)

I have noticed that my transmission feel is different than it was. It requires more effort to shift into each gear. As I recall, it used to be almost effortless and it would just fall into gear. It has fairly new Honda MTF. When I double clutch, it does "fall into gear". If my synchronizers are failing I would think I would be grinding.

The clutch release from a stop seems normal. That is, I don't think I have a problem with it being partially engaged when the pedal is down. It seems to require more effort to shift into first gear from a stop also. I dunno..

Any ideas?

What is "fairly new" transmission fluid? If your tranny is notchy first thing to change is the transmission fluid. Now I'm not starting one of those "which fluid is the best" posts but in MY car I noticed MTF sheared down to thin very quickly. MY car tends to like the syncromesh. This is just my observation about MY car and I'm not trying to start an arguement. But change the fluid and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I changed fluid in February. What did you mean by "MY car tends to like the syncromesh" ?

Thanks,

Jim

Just elaborating that not everyone's car is the same and mine doesn't really like the MTF. This topic has been covered multiple times and I'm trying to avoid taking this thread into the direction of another "my fluid is better than yours" thread. Typically though if your transmission is getting notchy you should attempt changing the fluid.

Pennsoil Syncromesh; the equivlant to the GM syncromesh. It works well for me but again all cars are different. But if your noticing notchiness that quickly after a fluid change then attempting another fluid might be a good idea.
