Default Trunk fits incorrectly, what could be causing it?

Hi y’all, the right side of my trunk (pic below) is completely fine

however the left side (pic below) does not and sticks up slightly

i am able to push the trunk down with my hands to where it should be. What should I be looking at to see why it’s not fitting correctly? (Note: this car has not had a wing)

Did the car get into an accident and the quarter panel was replaced?

Thanks!

Did the wind ever slam the trunk open? That could put a twist in it. Or close the trunk with something hitting the left side of the trunk.

Tried twisting it counter-clockwise? Seems to be all that's necessary.

It could have happened if the lid was forced closed on an object sticking up from the trunk. May be able to counter that force gently and until it fits again.

Someone may have slammed the trunk on an object or put a bike rack on it. Sometimes bike racks have straps that pull up on the panel in order to secure the rack.

Check underneath if there's something obstructing it.

Its not a common "S2000 thing". So, anything that could have caused it on a regular car could have caused it on yours.

how would you recommend I go about that to do it properly? Also I noticed the left rubber stopper was angled backwards. Do you think it’s possible that with it being closed like that it could have bent over time?

Just out of curiosity, how often are you opening and closing your trunk?

Thanks!

Former body man here. Try to screw the left side rubber stopper in a turn or two. That will lower the closed height.
