Trying to jumpstart car but cannot silence alarm
Hi all,
I am having trouble with my 00 S2000. The battery has been dead for about 3 months. We jump started it about 2 weeks ago and drove it to try to charge the battery. No problems at all. The battery is not holding any charge so it needs to be replaced, but now when we try to jump start it the alarm sounds and we cannot turn it off. I have two remotes (one never worked) and the valet key/remote. The valet remote locks and unlocks the car but doesn't turn off the alarm. The other remotes do nothing. This is the standard factory fit alarm. It is a UK car, the other two remotes are black, square remotes with two rubbery buttons, a concave one to unlock and a convex one to lock.
Anybody experienced a similar issue? I have called out AA and they spent about 2 hours at the car but couldn't get it to start or the alarm to turn off.
Thanks in advance

IIRC, factory alarms use a different remote than the stock remote. That would explain why you can't turn off the alarm. There are some folks that hang out at the "S2000 Electronics" forum that may know this well. If I'm not mistaken, you aren't going to turn off the alarm unless you have a key fob that recognizes the alarm. Your best bet is probably to disarm the alarm.
Good luck.
Good luck.
