yes, and so didnt the GMC typhoon/cyclone models with great success.
the advantages for each are here;


(1)air to air,
easy to install, greater thermal efficiency at higher speeds, greater reliability,lower maintenance, lower cost.

(2) air to water,
better thermal efficiency at lower speeds,better throttle response. lower boost pressure loss, less compressor surge, and less space requirement.
