V-AFC II Haters
I just purchased my V-AFC II for my MY 00. Ironically at the same time i joined this forum where I read from hordes of members that the V-AFC is crap. Most consistently I hear that part throttle tuning goes out the door after a few weeks (due to the ECU recalibrating) and also that gains are minimal and the unit itself is limited in its functions.
Is there anybody out there who has had good experiences with tuning their V-AFC? If so, what pointers can you offer up? Furthemore, even if i lose part throttle tuning, is it that big of a deal? If im going fast im already floored anyways. The only time you would be under 80% (open loop crossover point) throttle at the track is during corners, but even so your back to floored a split second later. Anybody have thoughts on this?

Any reputable Honda tuner will NOT tune part throttle (at least with B and F series motors) at all. Save your dyno time for WOT tuning.
The VAFC or the VAFC2 is not crap at all. People with 00 and 01 get the most gains. People with 02 and newer cars usually just get the VAFC to lower the VTEC changeover point (which some argue is crap because you are on the big cam but the small cam timing if you lower the VTEC below factory).
Alot of S2ki'ers just have the 'Go big or Go home' mentality. I think you will like the VAFC very much.

I had the VAFC on my 01 (got me 8hp at peak). I had the VAFC2 on my 04 (got 3hp). Now I have the EMS on my 04 (got 19hp).
If you are looking for max NA hp (from your other thread)... EMS is your best bet. But a VAFC gets you 1/2 way there for 1/4 of the cost.

I installed a V-AFC I on my '00 and it returned 10hp increase.
I didn't touch any settings below 4k rpm.
Set the low throttle at 30% and high at 75%.
Changed the VTEC point to 5700 but didn't feel any difference although the dyno sheet shows a smoother hp curve.
The important point is not to change the fueling in closed loop operations. You don't want the O2 to feedback and overshoot every cycle, causing a CEL.
It's a good product for WOT but because it relies on Throttle Position (instead of MAP signal; i.e. load) to enrich/lean, there will be areas where the fueling is a little off.
Hope I helped.
