Default VAFC problem

So i got my harness and vafc II friday and took it over to the dyno. On the drive over i noticed that the engine would do several rapid hesitations around 6k rpm and another dip around 7,500. When i got there i told him that it just started happening when i put it in and on the drive over. He took it out for a ride and said that vtech was engaged all of the time and there was a problem with the vafc and i should call apex and try to get them to warranty it.

I took the unit out and it ran completly normal again. When i put it in now it will do the rapid on/off hesitation from 5300 up to 6800. So i have it our right now

Nino actually told me that it was bad, Very reputable tuner. So i just wanted to see if there was a way i could check for myself?

Also has anyone else had any problem like this with their's?

I just called apex and they said that i need to hardwire the wires into the ecu and that they didn't know if the 01' had a vtm wire...that's exactly what i got the harness so i could avoid all of that. I asked if they could maybe walk me through to check other ways but he said no hardwire it and if you have problems after that call back.

Please anyone!!!!

Apex'i are just being difficult because they get so many bogus complaints. If it's wired correctly tot he PnP harness (and I've never heard of any that aren't) then I doubt it's a wiring problem.

Also, all S2000s have the VTM. Just goes to show how much Apex'i know. I'd get a hold of another VAFC and attach to your harness. If it works, it's a problem with your VAFC. If it doesn't, then it's wiring.

OR....

Have you checked the VAFC setup? Is it showing the correct rev range? Is it set to 4 cylinder and 0606 Sensor type?

Could the harness be defective, like wires coming out of it. The first crappy harness I got from vtecfrog was made incorrect from the factory so I always had wires coming out of it. Although in my case I always had a CEL whenever a wire came out...

I've heard this a few times but haven't actually experienced it myself. I've had three harnesses from VTECFROG, a VAFC, E-manage, and now AEM EMS extension, and all have been fine. Perhaps Pascal just likes me.

Allright well looks like it's time to find someone with another vafc that is working correctly. Apex's tech support really sucks too. When i was talking to the man there he seemed really irritated and mad that i was even asking questions or saying that there might be a problem with their unit.

Very lucky you
Actually the first harness I got which Pacal knows about and saw for himself, the insulation on the wires wasnt crimped down so that made for very weak connections, and plus the bottom where the connections plug into, its weak to begin with. But i modified mine to be stronger...
