Default VAFC remove, CEL #22

Folks,

I just removed my VAFC and now I'm getting a #22 CEL (VTEC Solenoid). Any ideas what I might have missed. I'll be checking the continuity of the wires shortly.

Was the V-AFC hard wired, or did you have a harness? If it was hard wired, then I think the problem is obviously the VTEC solenoid wire.

It was hard wired. I've checked the wire and it appears to be good. Could the VAFC have masked a problem with the solenoid since it controls the signal to and from the ECU?

The solenoid appears to be working fine. The problem must be with the VTM signal. Since this wire is disconnected when using a VAFC there would have been no way to catch this failure. Anyone know of a way to verify that this is the case? How does this VTM signal work?

It turned out that the VTEC oil pressure sensor was not working. The problem had been masked by the VAFC since that wire is disconnected from the ECU. After replacing the sensor everything now works fine.
I would strongly suggest that any VAFC users that are also using a harness unplug the VAFC from time to time and verify that the sensors and solenoid are working fine.

Interesting information.. Thanks for sharing (even though we really had no helpful advice for you).
