VAFC tuning, dyno graphs
mods:
- Apexi AFC Neo
- home made single exhaust
- K&N drop in filter
- modify eBay intake snorkel
stock air/fuel was pig rich, it was dipping into the 10's on the top end. vtec xover is set at 5500, anything lower and it would loose power. air/fuel could be smoother at certain point but i have a wideband in my car, so i'll do some street tuning to smooth it out a little more. the highest gain is between 8k-9k, more than 20whp. you can see there's gain at just about every point on the graph.
i knew that the vafc would alter timing, so i used my friends OBD2 scanner to keep track of timing to make sure it doesn't advance too high. stock timing was around +21 deg on the top end. after AFC tuning it ended up around +24 deg.
next mods will be testpipe and maybe header, then back to the dyno to see if it made any gain.

Not a bad graph for a vafc tune.
Baseline looks low, I thought AP1's made about 200whp ??

the important thing is that the dyno shows the gain.
It's true that different dynos are calibrated differently, but that is the lowest I've seen on a DynaPack. Since the power is tested at the hub rather than the wheel on a DynaPack, the numbers are usually higher than a DynoJet and much higher than a DynoDynamics. Your numbers are on par with a DynoDynamics.
I would do some pulls on another dyno or see if you can get a couple of other s2ks to do some pulls on that DynaPack for referrence.
Your homemade single may be hurting. We've certainly seen other exhausts that were power losers...it's not as easy as just welding a straight pipe from the header or cat to a muffler can.

i don't really think my exhaust is loosing power over stock as i only replaced it with straight through muffler with no bottle neck.
as i said, i'm not worry about peak number as i use the dyno for tuning. i can care less if it shows that my car is only making 150whp as long as i'm gaining hp at the end of the tune. if my car is making less peak power than others, then spending money on a different dyno is not going to give it more power just because the other dyno is calibrated to show higher hp.

on interesting thing to note is that the car lost power on some part of the cure when i ran without the air filter and didn't gain any top end at all. i figured i could take the filter of at the track but i guess i wont be doing that.
Yeah nice gains, but super low base dyno.
I did a vafc1 tune recently too. Picked up around 15 whp max high in the rpm range. Dyno'd final numbers at 227 whp on a Mustang Dyno. 146 wtq.
Have you checked your compression?
