Valve Adjust
Any advice you may have is greatly appreciated.
Before I left for Hawaii 20 days ago I had a random cylinder misfire. After talking to a couple people they thought it was probably plugs or coilpacks.
I have changed plugs and the code came back right away, before the misfire code took around 50 miles to come back.
Last night I changed plugs again with new coilpacks and the code came back right away and then my CEL started flashing so I was still at friends house so I left it there. Not sure what the exact code is now but I am assuming its the same.
After doing some reading I think I have 4 possible issues.
1. Something from the Brand New OEM parts I just put in are bad.
2. Bad injectors.
3. Valve's need to be adjusted.
4.???? Unsure, Ideas?
Also anyone have a good guide or movie on how to do a Valve Adjust on the S2K? I can do it on my Honda TRX450 Quad so I hope I can do that car too... I need to drive to work tomorrow!
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Nik

Firstly, did you ever get a definitive read on the CEL code ?, or are you guys assuming it is a misfire ?.
A flashing CEL just means that the readiness sequence for emmissions was not completed, did you pull the battery for a bit of time ?, after the battery is pulled it takes a few miles for the readiness sequence to be finalized, if it isn't then it will flash the CEL to notify you that an emmissions test would not pass.
I highly doubt it's the valve adjustment, you could do it for a number of reasons but I don't think it will solve your CEL issue.
I don't think the plugs would act up if they were new as long as the gaps are within spec. and were installed (torqued to spec) properly. Hardly unlikely new coilpacks would fail either. I mean there is a tiny chance but it would be very rare.
The last part of the equation would be a bad fuel injector causing the CEL.
You have to read the CEL with a code reader, you can get a cheap one from a parts store. If it indicates a misfire on a certain cylinder you swap the coil of that cylinder with a different cylinder and re-check. If the CEL occurs again and it is the cylinder where the coilpack from the previous CEL was moved to then you know that coil is bad. Process of elimination. If the coilpacks are all good and plugs are all within spec and properly torqued on installation, then you move to the injectors as the probable culprits.
Your situation almost sounds like it would be an emmissions issue, it could be a bad o2 sensor or sensor connection. But we need to know if you actually got the CEL code read, or if you are just making assumptions on the code. The flashing CEL can cure itself after a bit of steady state driving.
