Default Valve Adjustment Question

Newbie question, but should i change the oil before or after the valve adjustment? I'm waiting for the valve cover gasket to arrive and figured i would start on it the valve adjustment and oil change now. Any recommendations? Car has been sitting over night and not been started today.

Well,...they don't relate to each other so it doesn't matter. I would do the valve adjustment since you gotta start the car to warm the oil.

i would change it after if it is due. it may not be directly related but when you have the valve cover off for that period of time there are some airborne particulates that will land under there. i did my valve adj right before i needed to change my oil, ran the car for like 10 mins after to heat up the oil and see how it ran, and then i changed it. it doesn't hurt anything to be a little extra cautious.

Thank you for the input guys. I finished the valve adjustment, however inclement weather held me up in putting the valve cover back on and oil change. Will finish tomorrow morning after this storm rolls through. Thanks again guys!!!
