Default valve adjustment tool/retainer question

I found this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Schley-Products-Inc-...69202096&sr=1-4

But I remember someone saying someone on this board makes them for cheaper. Anyone know who, or know of where to get a cheaper one?

Also, I want to check my retainers for cracks when I get in there. I've seen the posts and know what to look for on the top (the keeper being low) but is there a possibly of it being cracked and the keeper not being low? I know the crack happens on the bottom and there's not really a good way to see it besides taking it off (don't really want to have to do that).

Bought this one
http://www.amazon.com/Alltrade-648827-2-In...69228123&sr=1-1

Just adjusted my valves this weekend and it worked fine for me. Also checked for recessed keepers. Didn't see any sitting low. I guess the best advice would be to replace them and not worry or check them periodically. Good luck.

Sweet thanks. Does anyone have the part number for the AP2 retainers and keepers?

Also correct me if i'm wrong but I only need to replace one row of them right?

Also, how many of each do i need?

I used the second, cheaper tool linked above and it worked great.

All of my retainers were cracked - several didn't look low at all. The ones that *were* low, were *very* cracked. Scary cracked.

I was expecting a bad crack - but what I saw on two of them made me gasp... The worst one was cupped at the same point as the crack...
