Default Valve chatter

Hey guys, so here is the deal. I recently bought my AP2 with 60k miles and i literally love the thing to death, but i am kinda nervous because i have not learned the car so i dont know what to expect. My complaint (?) is that there seems to be a lot of valve noise, but i am not that experienced of a mechanic so i do not know what is normal for my car. The noise is not like really loud or anything, just seems noisier than my last car. The car drives very smooth and has lots of power so i dont suspect there is anything wrong i just want your guys opinion. Also she is due for an oil change so maybe that will help. The engine seems most noisy when fully warm, but i only have a clip of it during warm up. From what i read, i am fairly certain that it is not the TCT. All valve noise that sounds suspicious to me disappears after about 2k rpm. Basically am i overly uptight about it? The previous 1 owner loved the car to death as well and had the car serviced regularly, so it is likely that I am a worry wart...

here is a clip of my car on warm up.

in other news, this weekend i plan on changing all oils plus clutch and brake fluid.

Keep an eye on the oil level. Check at every fill up. If you have a mechanical friend or ask for help in your local forum a valve adjustment isn't difficult, and good maintenance. They usually run less than 150 at the dealer.

thanks for the tips, i had our family trusted mechanic look at it and he just said "the noise level was normal for the engine" but i take it with a grain of salt because i don't think he sees that many cars above the average beater. I might try and make a better quality video and post here.

Have you compared it to any other S2000s? If not, the S2000 is louder than a lot of other engines, so that may be why you think that. In the video, is that from a cold start? If so, the idle gets really high at first (compared to the average motor idling). I know my ap1 is around 2k rpm on a cold start, so that would definitely make the engine noise louder. A valve adjustment wouldn't hurt either (if it's done right) plus it'll get you to learn more about the car at the same time.

I have not compared my car to anyone else, but i hope to if i can meet up with some of the socal guys some time. I would love to do the valve adjust myself, i am pretty technical and have access to my friends fully equipped shop, i just worry if i mess up i will do more harm than good especially if my car does not need it and the valve noise is normal.
