How long does it take to change an entire set of valves? Does the head need to be pulled?

 

yes the head does need to be pulled to change the valves. And if you had to ask that question then I would say you are better off taking it to a qualified mechanic.

Besides, if you are changing the valves, then you probably want new valve guides, retainers, springs, and the whole nine yards! Most people do not have the tools at home to do a good valve job.

 

I wasn't planning on doing it myself. I should have said "how long does it take a mechanic to change the valves".

it can be done in a day.

mine took 2 days.

If all they are doing is changing the valves, then I would say about 6 hours. The book calls for 8hours for a full valve job.
