Default Vortech and Comptech SC's

I've been looking and reading threads in regards to the problems and flaws that have appeared on the Vortech and Comptech SC's.

Taking that into account, which SC would you get??? How long down the road before both these SC's are perfect???

just IMO, I like comptech more now..!! cuz, it is less work to install the SC... of course, someone may think for the extra work, you get much more power...true, but, I don't really care..(I even want a bigger pulley to make less boost..) and, after Comptech is sure to have the new bracket, then, the only choice of mine is Comptech...

I went with Vortech for a few reasons.

1. more boost
2. aftercooler
3. piggyback ecu
4. more power
5. same price if not cheaper
6. bypass valve

As for the install it does take longer, thats because you get so much more then the comptech unit. The problems that came up with the vortech kit such as timing issue, crank pulley holes, water bracket have been fixed. If you order the kit now you shouldn't have any problems with it. IMO more bang for the buck.

The Vortech kit is a way better bang for the buck. In addition to what S2KPower mentioned, the Vortech is also alot more expandable. The compressor is capable of supporting up to 700 hp, where as the Comptech unit is nearly maxed out.

In addition to all of that we (Bulletproof) is selling them for less than I have ever seen a Comptech kit sold for.

More good news!!

I just got the vortech supercharger kit :-) I also have some bad news :-) Good news first. The kit is out of tthis word and endless power all around great kit.
Now the bad news you need to get a new clutch and rear end !!! You must get this or you will wind up spending alot more money for gears at honda ($600) and the clutch is about 500 and install for them both is about 1100 or so and you need this stuff. Other then that the kit is the jamo thanks jason

Just curious about this bypass valve. I'm no expert in SC's but have owned a 91 mr2 turbo before...

The bypass valve for an SC does the same thing as a bypass valve for a turbo, yes? ie, vents air back into intake during shift?

If that's the case, can the bypass valve be replaced with an aftermarket BOV (Greddy, HKS, TurboXS, etc.)? From experience, I know that BOV vents air into atmosphere, thus, engine might run a little rich.
