Default Vortech s/c maintenance

The manual says to remove oil injecting orifice and clean by blowing compressed air through at each and every oil change. This orifice is in such a position that to remove would require s/c removal. I was also told by previous owner to only remove hose connecting to orifice and reach in to orifice and blow compressed air into orifice with it connected to s/c. This procedure is to blow away any accumulation of sludge, ect. that might clog and prevent oiling of the gears. How do other owners of Vortech s/c complete this task. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This proceedure had me scratching my head too. I think Vortech put that in there to protect their butts. If an owner abuses his general car maintenance like oil and filter changes, I can see where this might be an issue. I see some users of synthetic oil have decided to go 15K-20K MILES - WRONG!
I do my synthetic oil changes and filter changes at around 3K miles, sometimes sooner if the season changes before the mileage shows up. Unless something goes funny with the S/C, I do not intend to do this proceedure.
ps. I have given this a lot of thought to the extent of inventing a wrench that would reach in to that space to undo that fitting without disassembly of any other S/C part. So far, I have been stumped.

I've been running an S Trim on my oyher car, a 5.0 Mustang for the past 5 years. When I first installed it I'd check the orfice at every oil change,(easily to access on a Mustang). Never found any gunk in there of any kind. Since the orfice is only about .035 in dia, and since some people aren't too good about keeping their oil clean, like xviper said, they're probably just covering their butt. Keep the oil clean, and you should have no problem.

This is the best picture I've got. It's the end of the braided steel line that you cannot see. To clean, that braided line must be disconnected from the S/C housing. Even when it is not installed on the car, it is very hard to get at once the blower is bolted to the back bracket. Getting at it when the install is complete is virtually impossible.

Thanks for the info XViper. I will change oil every 2000 miles and I use Mobil 1 10w30 so hopefully everything will be ok. I probably start using a higher quality filter also. Thanks again. MHH
