Default VORTECH Supercharger

Under routine maintainance it says:
"You must remove, inspect, and clean the oil inlet fitting to the supercharger every 3,000 miles."

Do you do this and if so where is this located??

The inlet fitting is threaded in the bottom blower,at the other end of the oil feed line. It 's pretty much a PITA to get to. I believe Xviper pulled his once, but decided it wasn't necessary. I looked at the inlet fitting, which has a fine screem inlet and decided if there was debris big enough to clog the screen the motor would be f*cked anyway.

Doing this job would require removing the supercharger itself and partially disassembling it from the bracket. It is near impossible to get a wrench in there to turn the fitting. If you really wanted to, I suppose you could build yourself a custom shaped wrench to do it.
Just be very religious about engine oil changes and filter changes. Having a S/C can be considered using the car under "severe" conditions FOR SURE! I'm using Mobil 1 syn oil and even though it has been shown to be still good after over 7000 miles on a NA car, I'm doing my changes at the 3000 mile interval. Use good name brand oils and well known filters.

I have cleaned the inlet once and thats because I had to remove my supercharger for my head rebuild. There is no way to get that outta there without the removal of the whole unit

If Vortech is listening:
"You need to do this part a little different if you want your customers to follow your instructions." Maybe extend the fitting base out from the blower assembly so that a wrench can fit or include a "special" wrench or change the shape of the mounting hardware.

ps. I'm not really too worried about not doing this maintenance as I keep up with the other parts of the oil maintenance.

Same here, I use Mobile 1 and change it every 3k mi. It looks clean as a whistle. I'm pretty obsessive about maintenance, but you gotta draw a line somewhere.

Anything worth doing, except that PITA valve, is worth doing in excess!
