Vortech SC: Questions on Boost & AFR
Just had my car dynoed last week. The engine/exhaust is completely stock except the Vortech Supercharger.
Peak HP was 295 hp on a Dynapack Dyno. (On the same dyno 7 mos earlier I had 197hp).
The tempature outside was approaching 100 degrees.
I've noticed a lot of complaints about the Vortech running lean. For the most part, I stayed right around 13:1 except for a brief spike around 3500 RPMS where it spiked to 13.94:1.
Has anyone else experienced this weird spike? It happened on all the runs.
Secondly, MAX boost at 8700 RPM's (thats when we let up) we were at 4.94 PSI. That seemed pretty low. Is this standard on the Vortech's or is it low? My belt seems ok, no jumping and the boost was consistently climbing.

Mine was done on a Mustang Dyno. Temp. that day was about 80. RWHP was 260.1 air/fuel was between 11.2 and 12.6 with hardly any change at the Vtec crossover. Peak boost was 5.64 at 8471 rpm. Max torque was at 7800 rpm at 165.2. The air/fuel mixture was considered to be right where they wanted it. Since the car only had 2000 miles on it they didn't push the rpm but I think the numbers would have been slightly better if they had.

I agree, 13:1 is still not optimal, but many have been seeing 14+ and I saw nothing close to that. Maybe I would have if I was pushing closer to 7psi.
