Default VSA/Triangle Light - Steering Wheel Angle Sensor

Hi all,

Had an EP3 wheel on my car and swapped back to my OEM steering wheel and suddenly I have this VSA and Triangle light on. All I did was pull off the wheel and put the new one on, battery disconnected while I did it. Had my friend run the codes with his Honda tool and came back with a number of faults including the failure of the steering wheel angle sensor. Not sure how I could have broken it, but does this sound correct? Wanted to get another opinion before I spend $200 on a new sensor.

Chances are when you replaced the steering wheel, you moved the steering wheel angle sensor (which is behind the ABS clock spring). If the steering wheel angle sensor is off by a small amount (~5 degrees), it will throw the code you described. You can read and reset the angle sensor using a Honda HDS. I would try that before you replace the sensor. Unless you were rough with the steering wheel swap, that sensor should be fine.

Do I need to remove everything again and try and straighten the sensor?

Nope. Just reset it with the HDS tool.

What angle is it reading? Just to be clear, when I say "reset it", I mean tare (re-calibrate) the angle sensor to 0 degrees and then clear the codes.

It won't reset if it's too far off. Also, if you were too far off and went lock to lock you may have broken it
