Default VTEC Bog when engine is cold?!?

I have noticed that when my engine is cold and i try and give it a little the vtec cuts off around 7 grand.....is this a saftey measure so you dont rev the engine while cold, or is something wrong with my car???

Appreciate any response, and i dont have an owners manual because the dealer gave it to someone else along with the cover for my soft top......im really pissed at them!

Thanks, johnny--2k

Yes, it is a safety measure. You should be at 3 bars on the temp gauge before VTEC'ing. Let the car warm up then have have fun over 6k.
