Vtec Issues
Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this, im about ready to set the car on fire!
Recently started having issues with the car running lumpy, noticed what i believe is an oil pressure switch that bolts into the vtec solenoid had broken, since noticing that i have the problem of getting up to 6000rpm and the nothing, feels like iv driven into a brick wall! but it doesnt happen all the time. Iv tried another switch in the solenoid and it seemed to work for about 10 mins then had the same problem.. It feels like what would happen if the engine was cold and you tried hitting vtec but this happens even when i have 3 bars on temp gauge. car is a 2001 ap1 so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction!

You have a solenoid electrical switch and oil pressure switch that are both part of the vtec switching system. The Pressure switch is the top part of the vtec unit and the solenoid is in the block. Make sure the wiring connection to both is good and both switches are good. Also might want to pull the vtec unit off and check that the screen isnt blocked.

iv already pulled the back up fuse out for a few mins and hasnt sorted it. The switch i have tried is actually off a friends car, i used it to see if that was the problem as i knew his is working fine and it still works fine on his, but i still get the same problem
Maybe the oil pressure switch is actually doing its job (shocking, I know) and you have low oil pressure and the thing is trying to protect your poor S2000 from major engine damage?
Go get the factory service manual and perform the tests. Or take it to a good shop.
