I don't think this is in my head.

I have exhaust and a CAI, and everytime I go above 6k i can hear and feel vtec kicking in.. well since tonight whenever i go over 6k the engine go to redline, but i cannot hear or feel vtec like i used to. Now, I don't have a CEL, and my oil level is fine, and it was also at operating temp. Is there any checks I can do myself? Can the solenoid go bad without throwing a CEL. thanks

 

There is no way the VTEC will not work and you not have a CEL. If either the solenoid or pressure switch fail you will have a CEL, and a low RPM rev limit when the DTC is set.

The problem is all mental.
