Default Is the VTEC oil switch necessary?

I was wondering if someone could tell me if the VTEC oil pressure sensor is needed for VTEC to engage with the AEM EMS. I would like to plug mine up and just wanted to know if someone can verify that it can be completely by-passed.

I think you are boldly going where no man has gone before. The Stock PCM has to have it, The EMS can probably get away with not using it. I don't think the EMS uses the switch input to verify VTEC operation. Have you called AEM?

I think your other motive is to get the switch out of the way so the HUGE turbo doesn't melt it.

You are correct sir . I can't figure out a way to make a heat shield around that thing so I'd rather just get rid of it all together. I can just feed it power/ground so it thinks it's still there even though it's not. I got rid of the useless factory oil pressure sensor since it only turns on when the car has no oil anyways . I'll just rely on my defi gauge.

I'm gonna give them a call today and hopefully they'll return my call tomorrow. I'll post up what I find out.

meh...20 days left and countless things to do. I also don't wanna do anything but hang out and go out. So I'm contemplating a sale.

Not to hijack this thread...
but Chris, do I need the coolant temperature sensor on the firewall side of the intake manifold? Will the car run with it disconected and just throw a code?

I am waiting on the replacement part to come in, but want to know if I can drive the car in the meantime.
Thanks.

It will run, but you defintely need the sensor for correct operation. As the Temp gauge in the dash uses ECT sensor to operate, you won't have any indication if the engine runs hot. If you run the car with it disconnected a DTC will set.
