Default vtec rough engagement

my06 75000 mi. when vtec engages on this vehicle it sounds like the car is about to fly apart i have a v6 accord my07 and the noise level can barely be heard when vtec kicks in. why is it so noisey on the s2000? the s runs perfectly otherwise just the incredible noise it makes when vtec kicks in.

Thanks

Do you have an aftermarket intake?

I second this. An aftermarket intake will make the transition noise much louder which makes the transition seem rougher.

First time you hear a VTEC transition with an open type filter intake it can be a bit intimidating but you will soon get used to it
If you get it tuned with a lower and more optimal engagement rpm the transition will be a bit less violent.

The exhaust note changes fairly drastically when VTEC engages. An open air cleaner makes it more noticeable.

I'm convinced Honda set the VTEC engagement at 6,000 rpm to create the noticeable VTEC YO effect when the power comes on with a rush. My Gernby FlashPro tune engages VTEC at 3,600 rpm where the engagement is much smoother. And there's much more mid-range power.
