when i hit vtec before the car is warmed up.... only one bar showing on the digital gauge..... my car pushes me back like i hit a governor..... is this normal? i only did tis once..... i usually let the car warm up all the way before i even drive it.

 

Completely normal. The ECU will not allow you to rev past 7K RPMs or engage VTEC until just before it gets to 3 bars on the temp guage. You really shouldn't be trying to VTEC a cold engine anyway.

 

i'm sorry... i did it on accident... i was in a hurry and forgot the car was warmed up... scared the crap out of me!!!!!! i begged my car for forgiveness

 

its like hitting a brick wall huh? i about shit my pants the first time i did it. never again did i attempt to vtec when cold
