Default Water on Intake

What are the chances of getting water into a Short Ram Typhoon Air Intake System by K&N?

Does that ever happen to anyone?

Is it possible to install the valve for intakes made by AEM into this intake?

I'm not sure what intake you are talking about , so i can't comment on water in the intake. I do know that even if the valve fit on that intake it's not recommended. From what I've read the valve takes away from the sound and the little hp gain.

the chances are very unlikely that you will get water in any brand short ram intake, most of them are positioned right in the area where the engine sits. There is a higher chance witha cold air set up because these intakes are positioned near the ground where water is a lot closer to the filter.

The only way you would get water on a "short ram" is if you have vented hoods and hosed water on it or you lift up the hood and spray it directly.

As for the AEM bypass valve.....your wasting your time and money on a short ram. The bypass deletes any gains you would have got with any aftermarket intake.

Additionally the bypass has to be higher in elevation than the actual filter to work and it will only work when the entire filter is submerged causing negative suction to create airflow through the bypass.

In other words.......if your getting a short ram...it's fine....don't get the bypass.

So are you saying that with a short ram intake he won't have potential for hydrolock? I was not aware the the shortys were immune to big puddles of water! (not driving through a flood, but heavy rain, puddles, high-way speeds, etc.) I would tend to agree with you about the bypass kinda defeating a short ram intake when they are essentially right next to each-other (if you soak the intake, you probably soak the bypass)

Take the cover off your stock box.......it has the same chance of hydrolock as the short ram.

(I personally would not suggest it for any wet-weather driving!)
