Chances of the gasket leaking (it's actually an oring type in the WP) are also very slim.

The WP has a hole on the underside, you can see it with a mirror. It will be obvious if its been leaking, as you will see a trail of residue coming from it.

 

My 03 Toyota Tacoma needed a new water pump at 100-115k miles... but it's a very common problem for Toyotas.

My Ap1 is at 120k miles and seems like it doesn't need one. Had a bunch of Hondas in the '90s, all with over 100k miles too as they got older... none of them needed one. I think it's more of a Toyota problem.

 

Toyoyas have auto bleeding coolant systems. They tend to have more air in the system, thus more cavitation bubbles, especially problematic with people who predominantly take short trips.
