I do believe I dodged a bullet, but it isn't completely over yet. On the way to work this morning trying to drive her at least 30 minutes, the idle seemed to jitter between 1500 and 1600 RPMs, and the check engine light came on. At speed she drove smooth as silk. When you let off the gas, it seemed a little sluggish. So, since I planned on going to get an oil change today, I just took her in for a checkup and oil change. The tech called and said they had to order a part, I think and ICV valve or something like that, and with labor it totalled $345 and they have to change that before testing further. Once they get that on, they will check for anything further. I think if I had a major problem I would have a clunk clunk clunk going on, which I don't. But we'll see how it goes.

Ask him what the code was. It may have been the Idle Air Control valve. Water may have gotten into that system and messed with it. That tiny little hole just in front of the throttle plate leads to the idle air control system.

That was the name of the part. I will ask what the code was, won't be in till tuesday. Still an unbelievable journey on this one. I hope that once that goes in, they give me a new oil job and nothing else pops up. The smooth ride in 5th gear last night really gave me hopes.

glad it all worked out for yah. That's a fear of mine, hydro-loc.

My engine after a hard rain can sputter a bit. I usually baby her home (low RPMS) and wait for the water to evaporate, or in extreme cases I sponge it out. Do I have much to worry about? The car seems to run just fine.

Where do you sponge it out from? Type of intake?

AEM V2, I sponge the water from the bend on the bottom of the tube. I use a wire coat hanger and a towel tied to the hanger.

I see. Very inventive. Does the water get in there from driving into deep water or just from falling rain? If it's from falling rain, an "umbrella" will alleviate this situation.

Falling rain only. I do not like deep puddles, or any puddles really. An umbrella is on order. Half of a plastic planter, or should I buy the Mugen?

Well, the choice is yours. I didn't know Mugen made one. This is the only one I've seen:
