ahhhh now the engine light came on!

 

From my experience you may have a broken alternator bracket or a spun bearing. Start by checking everything on or around the belt. Remove the belt and give everything a shake or spin.

You need to pull the code. The code is a good thing, it will point you in the right direction. Go get a code reader from Pep Boys/Kragen for about $60, it's a nice tool to have.
