Default Well, it broke...

You guys may remember the recent thread I posted about a new noise in the rear of my car, if you don't you can check it out HERE. I was driving home last night and upon accelleration (no clutch dumping) I heard a loud "boom" from the rear of the car followed by a lot of "ching, ching, clank, clunk" sounds. I drove the car about a half-mile home and parked it. It drove fine at 5 MPH other than the noise . I called the dealer this morning and had it towed...

I'll get a rental sometime today, I'll also take pix at lunch of exactly what the heck happened when the dealer has had time to take it apart. Weird thing is that this noise I was hearing just started a few days ago, it never really got worse, but when it was it's time to go...it went.

I'll keep everyone posted.

The same thing happened to a guy in the mid-atlantic group. I think it actually caused a crash. Try a search.

I bet a dollar that your left bearing cap blew. I wish Honda would take responsibility for this, I got blacklisted after getting mine repaired.

What exactly does "black listed" mean? I know that the tech at Ft Myers Honda put a note on my account because he didn't like my wheel sizes, is that what you're refering to?

Well, the verdict is in...the ring and pinion blew. Now when I say blew, I mean blew. I have chunks of gear that I'll post a pic of later. Friday night I must have chipped one of the teeth on the pinion gear which was producing the fluttering sound, the next time that chip sloshed up into my gears it went through them the hard way, I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it...manglement incarnate. Honda is going to warranty it, even tho' the cost is $2,700 . Did I ever tell you guys that I love my dealer? .

I'll post all the pix tonight.

damn s2kyguy, sorry to hear about that!!! there are some things (noises) in my engine and some in the front wheel (right) when i turn sometimes....i guess i better get it looked at too. i just keep figuring..."it's a new car (2k miles), maybe it's my imagination or another "characteristic" of the car the mechanics love to use when they know nothing". man, let us know how it comes down for you. hope u get your baby back in great shape!!!
