Default what actually has to be cut?

i am a little hesitant to take a sawzall to my baby. what exactly needs to be cut? i was looking around the fenderwell area and i could see where there was already a hole, i imagine it just needs to be enlarged. hopefully hitting it up with some rust proof paint would keep it from getting nasty after a few years.

does anyone have any pics of what has to be cut for this? if it looks too gruesome i'm just gonna go with a comptech.
