What grinding gears can do
I don't understand how this is more of a Honda problem?
What part does Aisin play in this, I can't believe Honda R&D'd the transmission and had Aisin make it for them.
Not only that, I fear many of the problems we have dealing with this car from Honda is because, we have American Honda supporting one of it's last true imports.
I have had an extremely hard time with Honda with parts and other issues. The only way to deal with with problems with this car, tends to be letters and legal action. I don't think that is isolated to just Honda anymore.

I have a bad habit from my previous (manual) cars. I usually disengage from 4th or 5th to neutral without using the clutch. I only do this with no load on the transmission (not accelerating or breaking). I know it

the question is:
what do we do when we experience major problems, as it seems we are experiencing problems all the time when it grinds...
do we turn to honda, is it all out of our own pockets, do we go to a private mechanic, and if we do what do we look out for as to not get ripped off...

Check through the TSB library on S2KI to see if your problem comes close to any of them.
I've had a TSB performed for free after the 36,000 mile warrantee period. I had to point out the TSB's to the dealer. (Not related to gear grinding)
